Landmarks

2019/20
Recent notable gigs have been Ronnie Scott’s in quartet (February), Moods Jazz club in Zurich with The Yumi Ito Orchestra (May), and the Birds Eye Jazz Club with Miguel Zenon (May).

As a sideman, he has recorded four albums in 2019, including as a guest artist on an upcoming album featuring Jeff Ballard and Larry Grenadier.

Sam was Jez Nelson’s choice in Jazzwise Magazine’s ‘Artist to look out for in 2018’.

Robert Shore wrote that Sam’s first album was ‘the definition of musical precocity’.

It was longlisted for the Unsigned Music Awards 2018 for Best Jazz Act and is now on digital release. From that project, gigs included Love Supreme Festival 2017, Jazz in the Round and New Generation Jazz in the UK. The album and Sam’s interviews have been played and reviewed on BBC’s Jazz Now and BBC Introducing and JazzFM’s The Blueprint.
